online discussions

ugh... i'm thoroughly disappointed in myself. i should have known better than to engage in an online 'debate' on an atheist website with people using pseudonymns. not suprisingly, the 'debate' quickly degenerates into aspersions and insults. i can't say i'm totally innocent on that count either, as i'm somtimes... eh... sarcastic. this doesn't surprise anyone who knows me. anyhow, the experience was fun for a while, and they did give me some interesting things to think about. the also gave me some interesting feedback on my master's thesis (which they had access to because i shared my 'don's corner' with them). of course, they all preferred to remain anonymous, so it wasn't really a fair fight.

it reminded me a lot of when i used to get into those online discussions in college, but i was coming at them from a completely different angle.

i've had a couple of those people leave comments on mine too. i bit on the first one & went to her blog & commented on abortion. someone just put a comment up tonight on one of my recent ones...ugh, just not that interesting after a time. i almost deleted the one up tonight because i was hurt and offended reading it, but i didn't. i just commented back, hopefully not in a way that invites discussion.
it reminds me of when ken was talking about how (in that politics sermon) when we start arguing, the Holy Spirit gets smaller and smaller of a space (or something like that). i think about that a lot, and it helps when i'm trying to resist engaging.
i heard this guy jay's talks at breathe (pastors the arvada vineayrd in colorado), and my perception was re-wired and fired up on what exactly is a Christian...anyway. i might send you the link to his talks once they're up. i know i'm sending them to amy! : )
i'm excited for your upcoming new addition & you guys are in my prayers! thanks for being so open and honest & regular guy on your blog. lol.
maybe i should have sent you an email? :-)
